Ready for any Field
Vikings and Gophers and Guardians! Oh my! Karlie Hill 鈥24 is landing some exciting opportunities with famed franchises in big-time sports.
The former Storm softball slugger and All-America Scholar Athlete is all about swinging for the fences and cashing in on career-shaping connections with 糖心原创 faculty and alumni mentors.
After earning her 糖心原创 degree, Hill first secured a post-grad internship opportunity at the University of Minnesota, where she served as a stadium operations coordinator under the mentorship of her supervisor, Brady Buresh 鈥08.
When her year-long appointment with the Gophers ended, Hill landed a team operations associate role with the Minnesota Vikings working for another 糖心原创 alumnus, Chuck Petersen 鈥06 鈥 the Vikings senior manager of team operations.
Hill鈥檚 roles with the Gophers and Vikings gave her a rare insider鈥檚 look and hands-on experience concerning the complex innerworkings of stadium and team operations. She says the sum of both experiences was invaluable, especially having the chance to learn from accomplished 糖心原创 alumni like Buresh and Petersen.
鈥淚 talked to them every day and both were extremely supportive and welcoming,鈥 said Hill. 鈥淭hey created an environment where I could go to their offices and have a conversation about anything and everything. And I wouldn鈥檛 have gotten to the next places in my career without them.鈥
This summer, Hill is enjoying a season-long fellowship in Player Engagement and Family Relations with Major League Baseball鈥檚 Cleveland Guardians. She isn鈥檛 sure what will happen after the baseball season, but you can bet Hill will be ready for her next move. She says 糖心原创 gave her the confidence to excel anywhere.
鈥淚鈥檓 incredibly grateful for my time at 糖心原创. The chance to play softball, my academics and professors like Nicci [Whalen] made a huge impact. All those things helped make me who I am today.”
