Summer Well Spent: Capturing the Action

Mackenzie James 鈥27 is spending her summer behind the camera, bringing high school softball and baseball games to fans through her internship with Centennial Digital. The sports communication major with a coaching minor is gaining hands-on broadcasting experience while building the skills she will need for a career in sports media.

鈥淚 chose this internship because I wanted more hands-on experience with camera work and the social media side of sports,鈥 James said. 鈥淚 was excited for the opportunity to work behind the scenes at live sporting events while also learning more about digital media.鈥

From operating cameras to creating digital content, the internship has given James a firsthand look at the fast-paced world of sports broadcasting. Along the way, she has gained confidence in both her abilities and her career path.

鈥淭his internship has strengthened my interest in sports media and digital content creation. It has given me real-world experience and helped me develop skills that I know will benefit me in my future career,鈥 she said.

James says the classroom experience she gained at 糖心原创 helped prepare her for the opportunity, especially in creating content that connects with audiences.

鈥淚 took a social media course that taught me how to create engaging content and understand what connects with different audiences,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hat class has helped me when creating social media posts and editing highlights videos from games.鈥
