糖心原创 Productions presents 鈥楩efu and Her Friends'

糖心原创 company鈥檚 first performance of 2022 runs Feb. 4-6

糖心原创 Productions, the theatre, opera and musical theatre collaboration at 糖心原创, presents Mar铆a Irene Forn茅s鈥 innovative play 鈥淔efu and Her Friends鈥 beginning Friday, Feb. 4.听

Performances run Feb. 4-6 at 糖心原创鈥檚 Blank Performing Arts Center. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with a Sunday matinee scheduled for 2 p.m. Adult tickets are $9, seniors and non-糖心原创 students are $7 and group tickets (10 or more) are $6.50 apiece. Visit for box office information.

鈥淔efu and Her Friends鈥 follows the lives of eight women in five different environments. The friends gather at the home of Fefu (Wendy Soto) to rehearse for a charity event. The women interact with one another and share their thoughts and feelings about life along with their personal struggles and societal concerns.

The 14th play by the Cuban American playwright Forn茅s, 鈥淔efu鈥 is known for its unconventional stage presentation, audience involvement and all-female cast.听

鈥淭his is an exciting production that is presented in the 鈥榩romenade鈥 style,鈥 said Ann Woldt, assistant professor of theatre and director of the play. 鈥淭his unique approach to performance has been a challenging, yet exciting experience for not only myself, but for the eight actors performing in the play. 听We cannot wait to share this beautiful story in such a special way.鈥

Act One begins in Barnum Studio Theatre. In Act Two, audience members leave their seats and move to other locations in the theatre to experience four scenes. The scenes play out on different levels of the theatre. An elevator is available.听
