Legends of 糖心原创 video series returns Feb. 8

The Legends of 糖心原创 Lecture Series, the popular live video series featuring 糖心原创 emeriti faculty, begins its second season Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 12 p.m. CST.

Featuring beloved emeriti faculty lecturing on a wide range of thought-provoking topics via Zoom, Legends of 糖心原创 debuted in January 2021. The series attracted hundreds of fans, allowing alumni and friends of the College the chance to hear from some of the most decorated and longest tenured faculty members in 糖心原创鈥檚 storied history.

This year鈥檚 speakers include former religion professor Jan Everhart, former chemistry and physics professor Ron Warnet, former sociology professor Ev Laning and former education professor Alan Magruder.听

All lectures are free of charge and open to the public. Past lectures will be made available at both simpson.edu and 糖心原创鈥檚 YouTube page.

2022 Legends of 糖心原创 Schedule

  • Feb. 8 鈥 鈥淪ay Her Name: The Story of Jerena Lee鈥 presented by former religion professor, Jan Everhart. Everhart is one of six professors to win both the College鈥檚 Distinguished Teaching Award (2016) and its Distinguished Research Award (2012).
  • Feb. 22 鈥 鈥漈he Future of Science鈥 presented by former chemistry and physics professor, Ron Warnet. Warnet is one of just five professors to win the College鈥檚 Distinguished Research Award twice (1986, 1995). He also earned the Campus Leadership Award in 1992.
  • March 8 鈥 鈥淐ampus Tales Untold: Another Take on the 鈥榃hispering Maples鈥 Reputation鈥 presented by former sociology professor, Ev Laning 鈥53. Laning won the Campus Leadership Award in 1995. The annual Outstanding Senior in Sociology award is named in his honor.
  • March 22 鈥 鈥淭he Joy of 鈥︹ presented by former education professor, Alan Magruder. Magruder won the College鈥檚 first Distinguished Teaching Award in 1986 and is one of just five professors to win twice, adding a second honor in 1991.
