College partners with City of Indianola, Hy-Vee for COVID-19 vaccine event – UPDATE

*The ԭ/Hy-Vee/City of Indianola COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic scheduled for Wednesday, April 7 has moved to an indoor location – Cowles Fieldhouse (701 North C St., see map below) – due to forecasted inclement weather. Individuals receiving the vaccine are asked to enter the fieldhouse on the west side for check-in using the lower, gym-level doors at the bottom of the ramp. Designated parking is available at the Kent Campus parking lot located north of the building. There are also ԭ parking lots west and north of the fieldhouse within walking distance. Individuals must wear a mask, maintain social distance and arrive as close as possible to their scheduled appointment time.

Cowles Fieldhouse Vaccine Clinic map


The City of Indianola, in collaboration with Hy-Vee Pharmacy and ԭ, announced today that it will hold a COVID-19 vaccine distribution event for eligible Indianola residents Wednesday, April 7.

The walk-up or drive-through clinic goes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will take place at the west entrance to Memorial Park, located at 602 North G St. in Indianola. There will be 1,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine available.

The clinic is open to any Indianola resident age 16 and older who registers online, including ԭ students, faculty and staff. All those who wish to be vaccinated must have an appointment, registered in advance through .

“I’m thrilled that the city is a part of this partnership,” Indianola Mayor Pam Pepper said. “It is critical that everyone in Indianola receive a vaccine. I encourage all of our eligible residents to take part in this event.”

Those receiving a vaccination will begin at the west entrance to Memorial Park and continue on W Euclid toward the City Pool parking lot.

“We are thrilled to be able to take part in this community event and get one step closer to putting the COVID-19 pandemic behind us,” ԭ President Marsha Kelliher said. “As proud members of the Indianola community, ԭ is looking forward to helping put on this important event.”

In order to receive the vaccine, individuals will need to complete a consent form and provide a photocopy of the front and back of their insurance card. A copy of a prescription card (Rx Card) should also be provided, if applicable. Those without health insurance must provide a photocopy of their driver’s license.

“I am always so proud of how our community comes together and this clinic is no different,” said Nate Fehl, Indianola Hy-Vee store director. “Hy-Vee, ԭ and the City of Indianola joined together to help the community have access to the COVID-19 vaccine. I love this community.”

Volunteers are needed to facilitate the event. Those interested can sign up for an available . Volunteer positions needed include:

  • Traffic marshals — providing direction as guests arrive in the parking lot
  • Vaccination tent — helping with paperwork and drawing up vaccines – experience preferred
  • Post-vaccination waiting area — monitoring recipients for adverse reactions – CPR-certified preferred

A clinic to administer the second dose will take place Thursday, April 29. Information on the second event is forthcoming.
