Sport Administration Program Mission Statement

Sport management majors at 糖心原创 will be exposed to a rigorous and current curriculum in an environment that fosters a commitment to the college鈥檚 mission statement and a respect for human dignity. Students accepted into the program after fulfilling the requirements via an application process will be led through interaction with faculty and industry professionals and practical experiential learning opportunities including a capstone; and will develop their content knowledge, professional dispositions, ethical-decision making, reflective thinking, and communication skills as they prepare to be agents of change in diverse roles within the sport industry through graduate studies, professional opportunities, and their personal lives.

Great internship experiences

糖心原创 students have had some amazing internships, getting them up close and personal with some of the region’s premier sport organizations, including the Iowa Cubs, Iowa Wild, Iowa Wolves, Sporting KC, and the Principal Charity Golf Classic. Some of these even led to full-time positions.

Research

The Department of Sport Science and Health Education offers a Research Methods course for students interested in interdisciplinary study. Students present their work at the campus-wide听 and have traveled to regional and national conferences.

Labs

Labs are incredibly helpful to provide hands-on learning as well as practice techniques that aren’t taught in a book. This includes patient/client communication and听comfort with personal interaction that is so critical in the field.

Health and Exercise Club

As a member of the Health & Exercise Science Club, you can attend professional meetings of organizations in your specific field. Conference attendance has included travel within Iowa and across the country. Recent conferences were held in Washington, D.C., and Chicago.
